LORNE SCULPTURE BIENNALE 2022

The groundbreaking 'Spirit of Place' exhibition concept provided a platform for delving deep into artists' minds and their creative processes.

In my multifaceted role, I directed, shot, and produced media content while weaving engaging narratives around artists' works. This direct interaction allowed me to truly honour their unique visions.

The project featured various components, including a meaningful 'Welcome to Country' by Gadubanud traditional owner Richard Collopy. Through conversations with artists like Ryan Kennedy, Simon Buttonshaw, and Laine Hogarty, I captured their essence, ensuring their work was celebrated authentically.

'Spirit of Place Conversations' involved dynamic panel discussions among LSB2022 artists and guests. These discussions expanded on curatorial themes, deepening the art's context.

The project culminated in meticulous photographic and video documentation of artworks. Cinematic storytelling techniques breathed life into performance pieces.

A comprehensive wrap-up video featuring the curator provided a fitting closure, celebrating collective efforts and encapsulating the 'Spirit of Place' experience.

The President, Andrew Stobart, reported on the very successful 2022 Biennale, which showcased the work of over 90 sculptors and performing artists; was attended by over 23,000 visitors; generated around $100,000 of sales and returned a surplus of over $100,000 to support future biennales.

The President also reported on a dramatic increase on visitation stats over previous events via the results of the visitors’ survey – interestingly, over 60% of survey respondents came to Lorne specifically for the Biennale and 42% visited for the first time.
