Monsters who mean business.

Archives.

We have been digging through the Quiksilver archives looking for pieces to hang in their new Byron Bay apartments. We’ve found some classic old photos, screen prints by Peter Webb and some original water colours by Simon Buttonshaw and Serena Mitnik Miller.

DC Apparel 2012

We’ve been at it hustling some art for DC’s AU hi-summer 2012 range. Whole bunch of new prints by Urchin, plus three Mike Blabac photo prints. Sneak peaks closer to the release date, that’s all for now…

Opinel Knife

The Opinel knife was invented by Joseph Opinel in 1890 in Savoie as a simple working man’s or peasant’s knife. It proved popular with the local farmers, herdsmen, and peasant winemakers of the area. In 1897, a series of twelve sizes, numbered 1 to 12, was developed. The one pictured here is a size 7 and is inscribed with Urchin words of wisdom – “Don’t Give Up The Ship”.

Roubaix

Introducing ‘Roubaix’ Sem/Sav and Shiraz from Margaret River. Exclusively made and sold as Hell of the North’s house white and red. Appropriately named after the french cycling race which inspired ‘Hell of the North’ as a title for the new Fitzroy bar/restaurant. Finishing the oldest one day professional bike race was an extreme challenge, few finished in one piece due to it’s difficult conditions. So in a round about way, riding this race and winning was like taking down a tough animal… Survival of the fittest. Enjoy a sunday in hell with Roubaix.

“This wasn’t a race, this was a pilgrimage…”
Henri Pélissier, speaking of his 1919 victory.
